The mission of the Music Ministry is to enhance the worship experience by leading liturgical songs at Masses, prayer services, funerals, and weddings. Our music ministry has diverse styles and commitments to fit any musician. We are always looking for new members with musical talents to join us in serving our church community.
Youth Choir: The Youth Choir brings together Saint Joseph Catholic School Students and Parishioners from 3rd-8th grade to lead the congregation in song at Mass. The youth choir sings once a month, rotating Mass times. This creates a great opportunity for children to be involved in the Liturgy and to start serving the Parish at a young age.
Adult Choir: The adult choir is a group for high school students and adults who love to sing. We learn music at a fast pace, but we have members with a range of skill levels. We rehearse on Thursday nights from 7:00-9:00pm in the choir loft. The adult choir sings at every 9:30am Mass from August through Corpus Christi in June. We also participate in Solemn Feast Days and larger Masses such as Holy Week, the Easter Vigil, and Midnight Mass.
Lifeteen Music Group: The Lifeteen group plays a mixture of traditional and contemporary worship music, that leads the congregation to have a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. They play instruments such as guitar, keyboard, and drums. Their music consists of artists like Matt Maher, Sarah Hart, and Chris Tomlin. The Lifeteen group plays at the 5:00pm Lifeteen Mass and also plays for Praise and Worship Adorations throughout the year.
Handbell Choir: The handbell choir plays for the 11:30am Masses once a month between September and May, including Easter and Christmas. One of the beautiful aspects of a handbell choir is how the members must play their bells together to create beautiful music that cannot be made by just one person. The qualifications to join this group is the ability to read music.
Cantors: A cantor is the solo singer at Mass who leads and encourages the assembly in singing at Masses and other prayer services. The Cantor leads the congregation in song for the hymns, Mass parts, Responsorial Psalm, and Gospel Acclamation. Cantors may be scheduled for weekend Masses, Solemnity Masses, Weddings, Funerals, and other Prayer Services.
Musical Instruments: The use of musical instruments like the piano, organ, guitar, and other instruments enhance and sustain the worship experience in Mass. We are always looking for instrumentalists to accompany our cantors for Masses, Weddings, Funerals, and other Prayer Services.
